New Year’s Visit

Bob and Susan,

Thank you for the opportunity to rent Island House # 12. The house and location were perfect for Steve, J.R., and I to spend a wonderful holiday season.  Every thing we needed was there.

We particularly enjoyed warm breezes all day and night----- as you well know, exceptional airflow was designed into the house. The downstair interior decor was so perfect!  Even J.R. remarked how he liked the striped upholstery in the living room.  For J.R. to notice is really something!  The drying racks on the upstairs porches are a great idea-- we made good use of them-- even though I bought two extra bathing suits while I was there.

The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped and easy to keep tidy.  We ate out Christmas Eve: The Lighthouse; New Year's Eve:The Edge; and a couple of lunches.  Being able to dash back from the beach at Rum Point made it possible to keep up with most meal preps for the two guys.

I wanted to spend all my time at the beach, swimming, snorkeling, enjoying the beautiful view.  I'm pretty well cooked and still retain a certain lobster-like skin tone.  It's a good thing that there weren't any giant octupus nearby, as I understand, lobster are one of their favorites.  I am sure the fish and stingrays that gather near the pier,  must have gotten used to seeing me everyday, and are missing me already- I miss them too.  What a phenomenal location Rum Point is!

We made extensive use of the library.  Each of us read at least two books.  I thoroughly enjoyed " Mayflower"  ---didn't get to finish the book about the Americans "occupying"  Britain, "Rich Relations".  J.R. bought a set of dominoes which we enjoyed in the evenings; we left the set at the house for others to use.

J.R. went on several dives.  Steve and I did Stingray Island from the "cat" at the pier.

We met a couple of neighbors including a fellow from Laytonville, MD in #10.  One of the ladies in #11 recognized us at the Cayman Airport (departure) and we led her through Cayman exit and U.S. entry Customs.

Early New Year's Eve fireworks at neighbors were visible from the linai.  Later, Steve and I went over to the beach at midnight.  The fireworks along the entire length of the shore across North Lagoon provided at least 1/2 hour of spectacular entertainment.

We trust everything was in order when Thalia or her helpers arrived yesterday.  We left at o'dark:30 to take J.R. to the airport, and to take in some of Georgtown and a few souvenirs.

Happy New Year,

Steve and Hollis
